Optical Specialist Opens Saba’s First Eye Care Center

BREADLINE PLAZA/Saba- As of this month Saba will have its first on-island optical specialist. Marie Luise Ameen the proprietor of EYE CARE OPTICAL SABA is Saba`s new Optometrist.

Originally from Germany, Mrs. Ameen, who is also referred to as “Mrs. Lucy” studied Optometry in Stuttgart where she obtained her certification as Master Optician and in Berlin graduating as an Optometrist. After several family visits to Saba she started to feel at home on the island. Eventually she decided to move to Saba when she realized her skills would be a useful asset to the island. Since the beginning of this month she has been providing services from her store which is located in Breadline Plaza, Windwardside.

EYE CARE OPTICAL SABA is equipped with brand new, state-of-the-art, optical instruments to provide primary eye care. This includes general eye care examinations, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system. Everybody on Saba who needs glasses or needs an annual diabetes eye check up can now be helped on-island.

The new eye care center has a contract with the Health Insurance Office (ZVK). Health care insurance is provided to patients with a local ID card. For those insured, an amount of $170.00 will be available for glasses or contact lenses every two years. Prescriptions and fittings for eyeglasses, contact lenses and low vision aids will be provided. She is also specialized in fitting children with pediatric eyewear. At the opening of the new school year Mrs. Ameen will be testing children’s vision at the local schools.

EYE CARE OPTICAL SABA will be providing frames for glasses ranging from $50-$300, sunshades which can be made into prescription sunshades and daily or monthly contact lenses prescriptions. There is a large selection to choose from and EYE CARE OPTICAL SABA supplies well known brands such as Ray Ban, Maui Jim, Calvin Klein, amongst others. With her varied professional qualifications she is now ready to provide Saba with her Optical Specialist services as well as her passion for the design and production of eye glasses.

Opening hours of EYE CARE OPTICAL SABA will be Mon-Fri 9:00am- 6:00pm and on Saturday’s from 9:00am-1:00pm. Both appointments and walk-ins are welcomed.

To celebrate the opening of the first on-island Optical Specialist, Mrs. Ameen invites you to the grand opening of Breadline Saturday the 6th of July at 4pm. She will be more than happy to give you a tour around EYE CARE OPTICAL SABA to provide information about her optical instruments and to show you her variety of eye glasses.
