Caribbean Lions in international Convention

Saba and St. Maarten Lions Club members joined about 40,000 others in Germany this month at an annual convention reports the Daily Herald Nine Lions from Saba and St Maarten spent five days with other club members at sessions that featured a world-renowned singer, a former NBA star and a Dutch princess.
Saba was honoured for being one of the three finalists for the quality of their world hunger-eradication project proposals. China won, and members from Saba and Turkey were recognized for their proposals. The Lions Club’s international president, Wayne Madden, pushed for improvements in childhood literacy rates. Lions here say they plan to continue the club’s “Lions Quest” initiative to help children.
The convention allowed members to network and learn about international projects that clubs around the world have undertaken, for instance, a water-purification idea from an African country.
