Government Offices to Close due to Passage of Tropical Storm Gonzalo

Island Governor, Jonathan Johnson, has decided to close government offices as of 11:00am today due to the imminent passage of Tropical Storm Gonzalo. This is so that civil servants can go home and take the necessary precautions to safeguard their homes and other property. Government services will resume on Wednesday morning unless otherwise indicated.

Due to the mid-term vacation the primary and secondary schools on the island were already closed and no further measures are necessary for these institutions. The Day Care center will also be closed at 12:00PM until Wednesday morning.

The storm is expected to be closest to the island in the early evening hours on Monday. Residents are advised to stay indoors and off the road due to the anticipated heavy rainfall, however no curfew is anticipated for this system.

Business can continue to operate as normal, but proprietors are advised to continue to monitor developments and take appropriate measures if necessary.

The Emergency Operations Center advises residents to continue to monitor developments on Gonzalo. Official updates about the storm will be posted via the government’s Facebook page – Island Government of Saba – Government Information Services
