Part of the training involves learning how to make use of the Urban Search and Rescue kit (USAR Kit). The theoretical part of training is taking place in a classroom setting at the fire station in the Bottom, while the practical aspect will take place at various locations throughout the island. Mr. Ron Mobley and Dwayne Straum of the Caribbean Emergency Responders Training Academy (CERTA) are conducting the training.

Local Commander of the Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department on Saba. Mr. Julio Every, is pleased that Saba can host this training. “Because of the diversity of the local landscape, Saba is the perfect place for such a training. I encourage my colleagues to maximize the opportunity this training offers as they in turn are required to transfer this knowledge and skills to their colleagues on their respective islands”. The training started on Monday October 13 and will conclude on Thursday October 23rd.
