Medical supplies for Dominica

On August 27th 2015 the Commonwealth of Dominica was severely impacted by Tropical Storm Erika. Twelve inches of torrential rain fell in a period of only twelve hours and caused dangerous floods on the island. In solidarity with the people of Dominica, Saba Health Care Foundation staff got together to see if there was anything we could do to help those affected.

Dominica aid

SHCF staff made a selection from our medical supply stock which needs to be used before the end of this year. Items were selected such as bandages, needles, gauzes, syringes, sterile gloves, etc. which can help provide immediate relief to the people of Dominica. The donation was handed over to Public Entity Saba in the person of First Lady Rosalyn Johnson.

Earlier this week a Disaster Relief Donation initiative was started on Saba and residents can deliver any donation they want to make at the Governor’s House or the Government Building.

The donation from SHCF will be taken to Sint Maarten for free with the Mutty’s Pride and from there they will be brought to Dominica and distributed by the Catholic Diocese of Rousseau and the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
