On Monday, February 15th, 2016, Saba Reach Foundation (SRF) will be starting its fifth language course term in collaboration with the NVAO (Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie) accredited University of the Dutch Caribbean located on Curacao. Upon successful completion of each course, students will receive a recognized University of the Dutch Caribbean certificate according to their attained language proficiency.
Based on demand, the courses below will be offered in line with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). CEFR is a guideline used to describe achievements of European language learners. The framework provides a consistent method of learning and assessing which applies to all European languages. The six reference levels are becoming widely accepted as the European standard for grading an individual’s language proficiency (reference level descriptions on page 3).

The 2016 Spring term will start on February 15th, 2016 and end on June 30th, 2016. The term consists of 16 weeks of 32 1.5 hour face-to-face classes, 1 week of scheduled 1.5 hour final exams, 1 week of re-sit exams if necessary, and 3 weeks of holiday. A detailed schedule will be provided to each registered student at the start of the term.
- Entrance Exams
Prospective students who prefer to immediately enroll in beginner’s level A2 or intermediate levels B1 or B2 must sit an entrance exam during the week of February 1st at the Eugenius Johnson Center.
- Final Exams
Final exams will be held during the week of June 20th, 2016. Results will be shared during the week of June 27th. Re-sits will also be scheduled during the week of June 27th.
The final exam will consist of 4 components: listening, reading, writing, and oral. Students must earn a cumulative score of 6/10 in order to pass the exam and receive a certificate. Students must also earn a score of at least 5/10 for each component in order to pass the exam and receive a certificate.
Instructors will make use of an attendance sheet to monitor how students’ attendance influence performance on final exams. Students with an attendance rate of less than 75% will not sit the final exam.
The registration period begins on January 18th and ends on February 12th.

A maximum of 10 students can be admitted into each language course. A minimum of 3 enrollments per course is required for the course to continue.

Students may not sit final exams or receive certificates unless all pending payment instalments have been transferred.
