400 kg of cocaine intercepted

The Dutch naval vessel Zr.Ms. Groningen recently intercepted a shipment of 400kg of cocaine in the waters near the Windward Islands (St. Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba), writes The Daily Herald.

The ship stationed in the Dutch Caribbean conducts operations there for the Caribbean Coast Guard. The Coast Guard patrol aircraft, a Dash 8, observed a suspect vessel whose crew were dumping cargo overboard.

Subsequently the Zr. Ms. Groningen’s on-board helicopter, an NH90, was launched to determine the exact location of the cargo. The drugs were handed over to St. Maarten authorities on Friday.
