Saba Lions Club installs new Board of Directors

The Lions Club Saba held its annual turnover of the Board of Directors. The event was well attended by Lions, family, friends, members of the clergy and members of the Public Entity of Saba, namely Island Governor Jonathan Johnson, Commissioner Rolando Wilson and Island Councilwoman Monique Wilson.

The evening marked the beginning of a new Lionistic year for the incoming Board members President Carl Buncamper, Secretary/Treasurer Malusca Baker, First Vice President Glenn Pileo, Immediate Past President Jessica Gumbs, First Year Director Mary Thielman, Second Year Director Harold Levenston, and Membership Director Lion Hubert Smith, who was not present as he was off island. Due to downsizing, the Board was reduced to seven members.

“I have learned a lot about this club, about its members, about myself and about people in general. This experience has been in itself very important and rewarding. Together we stand and divided we shall certainly fail,” said outgoing President Gumbs in her speech.

“Much has been accomplished through Lionism, and the Saba Lions Club and its members can stand tall and be proud of the Club’s almost 40-year history,” she stated.

“Lionism is strong, vibrant and constantly changing. Much innovation is taking place around the globe and in our clubs and I encourage all my fellow members to embrace the changes in order for us to be more dynamic, more efficient and be able to better meet our community’s diverse needs,” were the words spoken by incoming President Buncamper.
