New MBO training must reduce scarcity of IT specialists

On Thursday, October 31st , a meeting took place on Bonaire with governments and the business community about an MBO ICT training that will start in 2020, in order to reduce the scarcity of IT specialists in the Caribbean Netherlands.

Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland is working with MBO-Bonaire to start the new training on short-term and took the initiative to invite governments and the business community to join forces. All participating organizations indicated that they have difficulty recruiting well-trained IT staff. They want to work together to align the training program with professional practice and offer internships.

MBO Bonaire submitted the education file to ROA on Friday November 1st  for the MBO course “IT Systems and Devices”. The training will start in August 2020 at MBO-3 and MBO-4 level, according to schedule. The training is largely taken over from ROC Mondriaan in The Netherlands.

Young people who want to follow the training can contact MBO Bonaire for information or registration: 717 8120. MBO Bonaire will also approach young people from Curaçao, Aruba, Saba and Sint Eustatius if they are interested in following this training. Campus facilities are currently being considered.
